Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness: through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (The Book of Common Prayer, page 264)
The season of Lent may be likened to our annual spiritual check-up when we as individuals and as a Christian community consider our spiritual health. The ultimate purpose of Lent is to strengthen our spiritual lives and St. Philip’s offers many ways for us to do so. Begin your Lenten journey this year by attending one of our two Ash Wednesday services- 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. The profoundly meaningful liturgy of Ash Wednesday invites us “to come clean” before Almighty God by having a cross of ash smudged upon our foreheads. Join us as we begin our Lenten journey! A nursery will be provided at the 5:30 p.m. service.
