Parish Administrator
Jill Stewart raised her hand to volunteer as our Office Manager for a "few" months during the tenure of an Interim Rector. She never left! As our Parish Administrator she manages the office, handles our electronic communication, keeps the master calendar and the ministry calendar, prepares bulletins for all services, and works with the daily office volunteers to keep everything running smoothly. She is also very involved with our Godly Play program and with the Augustine Literacy Project as a reading tutor.
Children, Youth & Family Minister
Abby Glass joined us in 2022 coming from Chattanooga, TN by way of Springfield, OH where she graduated from Wittenberg University with degrees in Religion and Environmental Science. Abby will share in ministry with the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Philip's. In addition, our CrossTown youth group is comprised of youth from four area churches.
Abby is well-suited to ecumenical ministry She grew up in the Methodist Church, but her family has a long history of time spent in Montreat, where she also worked for the Presbyterian conference center for two summers. While attending a Lutheran college, she worked for four years in the campus chapel and volunteered with a Lutheran youth group. She also worked with the youth of an Episcopal Church on Sunday mornings.
Director of Music Ministry
Dr. Brittnee Siemon directs our Chancel Choir and works with our other volunteer musical groups that play and sing at our primary services on Sunday morning.
Brittnee is a versatile performer, teacher, and scholar. During her nearly twenty-five years as a church musician, she has enjoyed distinguished posts at Boston's Old South Church, Emmanuel Music, and King's Chapel with then organist and choirmaster, Daniel Pinkham. In the Southeast, she has served as Choral Fellow and Assistant Director of Children's Music Ministries at Shandon United Methodist Church (Columbia, SC), and Assistant Choirmaster of Music at Episcopal Church of the Incarnation (Highlands, NC).
As a known mezzo-soprano, her accomplishments include premieres of early and modern works, a debut at Jordan Hall in Boston, and numerous international appearances. She actively performs and collaborates as a critically acclaimed artist.
Dr. Siemon holds degrees in Voice Performance and Music Therapy, and carries Academic and Performance Distinction from Ohio University, the University of South Carolina, and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She has been a faculty member at Brevard College since 2016 and is currently the President of the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She is recognized internationally for her teaching and scholarly endeavors.
Organist
Kate Murray joined the St. Philip's staff in July 2024 as our permanent organist. Kate grew up in Brevard, where she attended Brevard High School and was a summertime student at the Brevard Music Center. She moved to New England to attend Dartmouth College, and played collaborative piano and organ there and subsequently all around Greater Boston for 10 years after completing her degree. While working a non-music day job, she also studied privately at New England Conservatory. She’s delighted to be back home in Brevard. She loves dogs (she has two) and spending time in the beautiful forests of our area.
Facilities Manager
Edna Hensley has worked at St. Philip's longer than any other staff. She keeps our facilities safe and clean and ready for all our activities. Edna also greets us every week as our Coffee Hour Hostess. She works with the Kitchen Committee to ensure that we have all the supplies we need.
Maintenance Supervisor
Angela Patane works with the Tuesday Work Crew to take care of all the little projects that keep St. Philip's running smoothly. Angela and her team of volunteers perform maintenance and repairs on electrical, plumbing, and other systems. They paint and do all the things you would expect from a "handy" person!
