United Thank Offering Blue Boxes Are Here!

The United Thank Offering began in 1889 when the women of the Episcopal church took up an offering to support innovative mission and ministry in the church that the budget could not cover.  Today UTO’s focus is still on promoting gratitude and supporting projects that address compelling needs around the world.

UTO invites individuals to embrace and deepen a personal daily spiritual discipline of gratitude, and the organization distributes 100% of offerings made to the Ingathering to ministries throughout the church.

The total of grants in 2024 are $1,003,283.78, and since 1889 UTO has awarded grants for a total of $144,238,763.76.

The UTO invites every Episcopalian to Notice the good things that happen each day.  Give thanks to God for your blessings, and make an offering for each blessing, so that your blessings become blessings for others.

The Blue Boxes will be distributed on Sunday, March 9th and the Ingathering for the United Thank Offering will be Sunday, March 16th Click here to read a biography of Julia Chester Emery, the woman who started UTO; next week in the E-pistle, look for some trivia questions about her. (Hint:  the answers are in the biography!)

In difficult times there are opportunities for gratitude; you might need to look more closely or deeper.  Individuals CAN make a difference!
